24.2.2010

A Terry Parker High School teacher's aide who coached a school dance team was charged with grand theft Thursday after disgruntled parents said the woman pocketed money that was supposed to be used for uniforms.

Tameka Lashawn Moultrie, 27, received about $4,000 from team members, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrest report.

The parents of six members of the "Parker Passion" approached the school's vice principal Thursday morning. They said Moultrie told their children in May she was collecting money for uniforms, shoes and a summer camp program.

The camp wasn't booked, and the company that was supposed to provide the clothing didn't receive any money - just a canceled order, according to the arrest report.

Moultrie was unable to show any receipts or physical proof that she deposited the funds. There are nine other dance team members in addition to the six who came forward.

She was taken to the Duval County jail; bail was set at $35,000.
